Install the Jamodio Audio Engine
The gist in 10 seconds
- Download the Audio Engine from jamodio.com/app — the button detects your system.
- Follow the screenshots below: Mac (drag → open) or Windows (installer).
- Mac: the Audio Engine is verified by Apple, macOS just asks you to confirm the first time you open it. Windows: an “unknown publisher” warning shows up, you click through it. Just once.
- When the Jamodio icon shows up (macOS Dock / Windows system tray), you're done.
Download the Audio Engine
Open jamodio.com/app and click the Audio Engine download button. The site auto-detects your system and offers the right file: a .dmg on Mac (Apple Silicon), an .msi on Windows. Once downloaded, follow your section:
Install on Mac
The Audio Engine for Mac is signed and verified by Apple: it installs like any other app, with no security setting to change.
1
Drag the app into Applications
Open the downloaded
.dmg, then drag Jamodio Audio Engine onto the Applications folder.
2
Open it and click “Open”
Double-click the app in Applications. The first time, macOS reminds you it comes from the internet and that Apple checked it: click Open.
3
Allow the microphone
macOS asks for microphone access: accept. That's how the Audio Engine picks up your instrument.
4
Done — the Jamodio icon shows up in the Dock
The Audio Engine runs in the background. Later launches and automatic updates won't ask anything.
Install on Windows
Run the downloaded .msi. The install takes a few clicks.
The Windows installer isn't signed yet: Windows first warns you that the publisher is unknown. You only get past this warning once: later launches and automatic updates won't show it.
Not dangerous. This warning applies to any unsigned app and doesn't mean the Audio Engine is harmful. Only download the Audio Engine from jamodio.com: it's the only official source, and every update is checked by the Audio Engine before it's installed.
1
Security warning → click “Run”
Windows flags an unknown publisher. Click Run. (If instead you see the blue “Windows protected your PC” screen: click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.)
2
Setup wizard → “Next”
The Jamodio Audio Engine installer welcome screen appears.
3
Keep the default folder → “Next”
Leave
C:\Program Files\Jamodio Audio Engine\ unless you have a reason to change it.
4
Click “Install”
The wizard copies the files. It takes a few seconds.
5
Leave “Launch Jamodio Audio Engine” checked → “Finish”
The Audio Engine starts automatically once the install completes.
6
Check the icon in the system tray
The Jamodio icon appears bottom-right (notification area). Click the ^ arrow if it's hidden.
Third-party antivirus (Norton, McAfee, Avast…): it may raise its own alert, separate from Windows. Open your antivirus and add
Jamodio Audio Engine to its exclusions / trusted programs.
Check that the Audio Engine is running
Once launched, the Audio Engine runs in the background. Three ways to confirm it:
- Mac: Jamodio icon in the Dock (and in the menu bar, top right).
- Windows: Jamodio icon in the system tray (bottom right, ^ arrow for hidden icons).
- In the studio: the Audio Engine badge shows in the studio bar with its dot lit (on hover: “Audio Engine active”). That's your sign you're running at minimal latency.
If it's still stuck
!
Corrupted download
If the install stops on an error, or macOS says the app is damaged, your file may be incomplete. Re-download from the Jamodio app and retry.
!
Antivirus deleting the file
On Windows, some antivirus tools delete the file instead of just alerting. Pause the antivirus during install, then add Jamodio to its exclusions.
!
Company- or school-managed Mac/PC
Security rules can block app installs. In that case, ask your IT team to add Jamodio to the exceptions.
